He was to ride back to the Inn in Bethlehem with the supplies and then bring Sarah, Boss’ wife, back to Jerusalem as soon as possible.  {Isaiah arrives at the store in Bethphage:}  “Hi Josh, I need to pick up supplies for the Inn, and if you have two fast horses, I’d like to buy them?” said Isaiah. “Hello Isaiah. Do…

Are You God’s Enemy?

Have you ever considered that you could be God’s enemy? You may think, “What foolishness! I’m not anyone’s enemy, let alone God’s!” Wait one moment, my friend. Let us look into this critical matter with an open objective mind. In order to do that, you need to understand what the Bible states about this extremely important issue. First, can you trust the reliability of the Bible? Friend, there’s overwhelming evidence from historical records in and out of Scripture and the Bible’s numerous fulfilled prophecies that testify to its veracity. God’s word gives us truth.  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”…

Chasing After The Wind

People are busy running here and there with ever-increasing speed to accomplish their daily business and endless chores—a “Chasing after the Wind,” Eccl 1:14, words probably penned by king Solomon. Remember the captive prophet Daniel who was thrown into the lion’s den under king Darius’ orders, but was saved when the Lord’s angel shut the lions’ mouths. This same Daniel had a vision of the archangel Gabriel and was told that in the end of days “many (people) will run to and fro, and knowledge will increase!” Dan 12:4. Isn’t that exactly what we are witnessing today? People are running here and there at accelerated speeds and isn’t knowledge increasing exponentially, via the internet, with the touch of a finger?…

My Life Forever Changed

It was August 2nd, 1990—the day my life was forever changed. My doorbell rang and to my surprise it was the pastor, his elder, and the elder’s wife from Sylvania Alliance Church, where I had been attending. I invited them in and we sat down. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they asked if I was ready to ask Jesus to be my Savior and Lord? I thought about what they were asking for a brief moment and these memories flashed through my mind: While growing up I attended St. Paul’s Lutheran church regularly and studied the Lutheran Catechism. Later in life, I became so disheartened by my failed marriages I started searching for God. In doing so, I attended…

Life Assurance

Having vehicle, medical, and life insurance in case something were to happen beyond my control would keep my family and I protected, you say. Many of us want to be covered in this life and are even willing to pay a price for the assurance it gives during our lifetime. But, only a very small minority are willing to get “Life Assurance,” which would give you the assurance that in the event of your death, you will be blessed with eternal life. How much would you be willing to pay for that assurance? I’m willing to bet that if you knew you could purchase eternal life, you would scrape together whatever was needed to pay that price!!! Ah…that’s not even…

Are You A Christ-Follower?

Jesus said to a group of rag-tag fishermen, “Follow Me and I will make you become fishers of men…” Mark 1:17-20 NKJB, and surprisingly they did—dropping everything to follow this guy they seemingly didn’t know much about…but why? What so motivated them to follow this Jesus guy, and why would they drop everything to follow someone without knowing where they were going or where it would lead? So this non-fisherman, Jesus, told them they would become fishers of men. Really? Usually, one doesn’t blindly follow someone without having some idea of who they are following, where they are going, and for what purpose. Look at what happened to those who followed the cult leader of Heaven’s Gate. They were led…

Sinners Saved by Grace?

"What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” Rom 7:24 CSB Sinners are Saved by Grace? Sinners are saved by the Grace of God and that is certainly a true statement, but it doesn’t tell us “The rest of the story” as Paul Harvey, an old-time radio broadcaster for ABC News, liked to say. Maybe some will remember pastor Adrian Rogers, famous for his quotes, such as “The me I see is the me I’ll be.” In other words, what we believe about ourselves will have consequences. If we believe that we’re hopeless failures in life then we’ll continue under this controlling influence. However, if we believe what God states in the scriptures…

God’s Not Forgotten Us During Crisis

Have you ever felt that going through an extremely difficult crisis with no end in sight could possibly be a benefit? That’s not what you would ordinarily think, but God’s word tells us differently. For instance, we find that in the book of Romans, verse 8:28 states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” How can this possibly be, you may ask? As Jesus told Thomas, “Stop doubting and believe!” We are to have faith in what God is telling us and we are to walk in that faith, knowing that God always speaks truth. He does everything for our good and His glory.…
